Dr. Jalal Taneera

Dr. Jalal Taneera received a B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology from Jordan and master degree in medical microbiology from Lund University in Sweden. Then he obtained his PhD degree in experimental endocrinology (2007) at Lund University – Sweden. The main focus of his PhD was to study the ability of adult stem cell to trans-differentiate into pancreatic beta cell as a cell therapy for diabetes. After his PhD he joined the department of diabetes and endocrinology at Lund University for post-doctoral training and beside his post-doc study he worked as coordinator for the Human Islets Facility at Lund University Diabetes center (LUDC). On 2010, he started a new position at LUDC as Research Scientist. His main focus is on genetic profiling of human pancreatic islets and identification of novel genes that contribute to type 2 diabetes etiopathogenesis. Dr. Taneera has a level of Assistant prof., he published about 28 peer-reviewed papers in major journals such as Cell Metabolism, PNAS, Nature and Human Molecular Genetics. He is a membership of the editorial board for some journals such as Journal of Endocrinology and Diabetes Research and Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Taneera was selected on 2013 (Helsinki – Finland) as the best young researcher on diabetes among all Scandinavian countries.
Since Mars 2016 Dr. Taneera is working as assistant Prof at the medical college at University of Sharjah.
