Prof. Sayed Goda
Professor of Biochemistry / Genetic Engineering
Qatar Anti-Doping Lab
Sayed K Goda is Professor of Biochemist and an honorary member at the Medical school, Southampton University, UK. He was a professor of Biochemistry at Qatar University (2006-2010). He then was appointed as the Director of Research and Training/Principal research scientist at SMGC, Qatar (Feb 2010- November 2011). Currently, he is a professor at Cairo University and a senior research scientist at the anti-doping Qatar.
After two post-doctoral fellow positions at Southampton University, UK, he joined one of the very sensitive research centers in the UK, the Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research (CAMR), Porton Down, UK (1989-2000) as a Senior Scientist, Deputy Head and then a Team Leader. During his work in Porton Down, UK he was leading or involved in a commercially and medially related research with restriction on publications of the data.
Currently, he is heading the protein engineering unit leading a team of seven scientists including full supervision of three PhD students. To date he has secured eight UREP grants from Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and five NPRP grants since arriving at Qatar in 2006. Currently he has been leading two of the NPRP grants with two million dollars fund.
